A court in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, has sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for their involvement in a murder case from 2021. Each of the convicted has also been fined ₹10,000.
According to the prosecution, on March 27, 2021, Abhishek, the 18-year-old son of Rajkumar from the village of Ataura, was murdered, and his body was disposed of in a sack, which was then thrown into a pond.
Reports indicate that Abhishek was in a romantic relationship with a local girl named Aditi.
On the night of the incident, Abhishek visited Aditi's home. When he did not return by midnight, his family began searching for him. The following morning, his body was discovered in a sack by the pond.
Rajkumar filed a complaint against Aditi, her father Anuj Kumar, and her uncle Omkar Singh. After conducting an investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet against the accused in court.
On Thursday, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajmangal Singh Yadav found all three defendants—Anuj Kumar, Omkar, and Aditi—guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
